Quad visitors Aug 2/09

Group of locals cruised in to say hello and pick up a couple of Flash Pans for their backcountry dining ease. Lil and Francis Boone were discussing trails and I was pleased to advise them that they were both right in a way. Problem solver! Thanks for the visit.

We continue to get intermitent rain which is great for keeping the dust down on the trails. We have bookings open in Sept but it is filling up with reservations in October already.

To prepare for your vacation don't hesitate to look at the trails and descriptions on http://www.quadsquad.ca/ and consider supporting them with the very affordable membership.

Cheers!

Camp City! July 5/09

The Camping Crew rolled in on Sat and they have this down to a science! The kids are tearing up our little test track and the adults are planning for a week of trail riding. Good crew and lots of motorized action!
Congrats to the Graffunder boys riding really well in the Canadian Enduro Motorcross Championships @ Racehorse Creek - we've enjoyed having them with us!
The Chabot crew crammed in a lot of scenery in a day of riding and are coming back for more in August.
Still snow at the end of Trail of 7 Bridges. There is likely still snow on some of the passes to the north also but the rest of the trails are in good shape. Cheers!

Fishing & Quad Report: Jun 14 & 15/09

Curt and I on the Trail of 7 bridges. Water was down a lot from the few weeks before. Sommer at her first gymkhana in the shadow of Frank Slide, Cooper, Kale and Kale's Dad Jim fishing at Summit Lake - our trophy trout lake 2 min walk from our place. Cooper is learning to fly fish and caught one last night. Look at the bottom shot of the flying trout! Well worth the BC licence gang! Cooper and his Uncle Clayton on his new KTM from A&E Racing in Brooks. They put some miles on!
We just got a couple of good rainfalls which is crucial. Trails are in great shape and the Boys from Biggar, SK just put on over 150km of atving on per day on their first trip out for 2009! Hardcore. Cheers!

SNOW Report: June 6/09

YEP SNOW! 3 inches of new snow overnight and it was snowing fairly hard this morning at 7am. It has now all melted and it is raining. This is good as we were getting very dry. Dusty trails be gone.

Here are a few photos from Clayton, Curt and Curt's Dad Boone out on the trail of 7 bridges 10 days ago. We have had hot hot days since and the trails are in great shape. The bear print is measured against Curt's gauntlet glove. Check out our FLASH PAN for cooking on the trail.

Clayton just brought home his new KTM 300 XCW and is itchin' for some guys to come out to ride with - any takers?
July 4th & 5th the 2009 Canadian Enduro Motocross Championships are planned for Blairmore! They'll be riding north of the golf course. We have availability.

Fish are biting too so bring your rod and get a BC licence for Summit Lake or fish the rivers in AB. Cheers.

Flash Pan!

Hey Gang - we have the coolest addition to your backcountry, boating, cottage, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, sledding, quading, horse back riding or tailgating gear.

It is called the FLASH PAN and with its solid fuel bricks it will sear, grill, cook an outdoor meal with no fuss over making or being allowed to have a fire. We have used it alot and it is great! It is inexpensive to buy and to operate. I just love it and we cooked duck breast, sausage, onions, peppers etc etc all day on the long weekend. We have packed it in the soft pack and in the hard shell on the quad and it travels so easily even in a backpack!

I am going to take it to our next gymkana/rodeo day so Sommer and I and our friends can have a hot meal for lunch. It is the most compact affordable tailgate ever! In July we'll be floating in the boat out in the lake (Last Mountain in SK) - stop by for hors d'oeuvres or shore lunch!

We try to keep you entertained! Your hosts....V & Curt...Cheers!

May Long Weekend Report

Beautiful weekend with our guests picking guitars around the bonfire at night and riding up the Trail of 7 Bridges during the days. The first photo shows the gang from Cranbrook - Dragon Ray & Mrs. Bates and the Halls from Countryside Homes & Miss World Traveller - Leanne. Almost all the toys are in the shot! Cooper and Spencer & Ian put lots of miles on their dirt bikes. Cooper and Tanner had the best "first day on the bikes" day and Sommer got some horseback riding in too after putting in days with Olivia catching brine shrimp at Summit Lake.
Check out the CNP Quad Squad site for gps maps, upcoming events and memberships (only $30 per year for an entire family!). The Calgary Quad Squad is now call the Calgary ATV Riders Association is you are looking for it on the internet.
Getting sun and rain on and off but no snow for at least 6 days. Trails are clearing daily.
Kale and Cooper were fishing last night and Kale is out there tonight on Summit and our trophy trout are biting like mad! Cheers.

Snow/Fishing Report: May 8/09

Hi Gang! Well, Trent from Walt Healy in Calgary picked up Curt last Sat and they went to Island Lake Resort west of Fernie for the Annual Fernie Snowmobile Club members only ride in the cat skiing area. It was awesome. We are still getting snow up top - just ask Clayton who has to drive in it on night shifts but this is only for the diehards now. Our trail still has snow on it and so quadding would be best right now east of us in Crowsnest area. Tune your bikes and quads!

Fishing! Summit Lake on BC side is almost ice free and the fish are jumping all day. I have included some photos. David & Deena bring your rods!
